Glossary of Poetic Terms - an excellent resource site for all poets, this is a unique guide for the study of poetry

Poetry Foundation - publisher of Poetry Magazine (dedicated to printing the best poetry written today, in whatever style, genre, or approach), site posts articles, events, poetry archives, hosts a blog and much more

Poets & Writers - a resource magazine for creative writers, with listings of literary grants, awards and prizewinners

Sonnet Central - site containing an archive of English sonnets, commentaries, helpful web links and a forum for poets to share and discuss their own work

The League of Canadian Poets - this excellent site promoting Canadian poetry offers a book store, many helpful links and much more

Vestal Review - a magazine for flash fiction

VoicesNet.com - a site that hosts an international poetry competition, publishes anthologies and invites writers of all ages to participate in their poetry forum


WritersCafe.org - an online community of writers who give and receive feedback, build friendships, network and enter writing contests

Writers' Circle of Durham Region - a non-profit organization for writers that provides education and encourages networking at its breakfasts, workshops and retreats

Writer's Digest - site hosts writing competitions and a writing community, posts articles, blogs, tips and writing prompts

Writers Village University - site offers writing courses

WritersWeekly.com - a listing of writing markets, jobs and classes

Writing.com - this site is for readers and writers of all ages and seems to be a very popular site. Be sure to read the membership agreement thoroughly before signing up. In the agreement it states that "Writing.com and its affiliates reserve the right to edit, copy, publish, retransmit and distribute any information and/or material that you post or transmit to this site."
